Some sound official. Others hide behind boilerplate “public records” nonsense.
All of them harvest you like a commodity. Scraped from social media, court docs, utility bills, credit headers. Then sold to bounty hunters, stalkers, marketers, scammers, and cops.

They build profiles. Link aliases. Connect addresses across decades.
The data’s dirty, outdated, and often wrong, but they treat it like gospel.

You want out? Good. Let’s begin.

CHECKLIST: HOW TO START ERASING YOURSELF

1. Use a Data Broker Removal Tool

You can go manual. But you’ll be buried in forms and CAPTCHAs.

Use a tool like:

  • Optery (free tier covers a handful, paid for full coverage)
  • SimpleOptOut.com (free, DIY links)

They submit opt outs to dozens of sites. Not perfect. But better than nothing.

Be sure to use a reputable company and don’t use a no name but it’s cheap data broker removal company. They are cheap because they do remove your information from those data bases and then turn around and sell your data back to them as new.

Want to stay DIY? Fine. But carve out time. This is war by attrition.

2. Hit the Big Ones First

Start with:

Each one wants slightly different data. Some require email. Others phone numbers.
They make it a pain on purpose.

Stay focused. Document each removal. Take screenshots.

3. Use a Burner Email and VoIP Number

Never use your real inbox.
Set up a protonmail account just for removals.

Use a VoIP number from MySudo, Google Voice, or JMP.chat.
This isn’t about trust. It’s about containment.

They will try to verify your request using the same data they already stole.

4. Repeat Every Few Months

They add you back.
They merge new leaks.
They buy more datasets.

You’ll need to repeat this process 2–4 times a year. Automate it if you can. Make it routine like brushing your teeth only this time, it’s scrubbing your digital DNA.

5. Freeze What You Can

Data brokers buy credit header data. Cut that off.

  • Freeze your credit with Equifax, Experian, TransUnion, and Innovis
  • Opt out of LexisNexis (may require ID upload and sometimes fax or mail)
  • Opt out of CoreLogic Teletrack (formerly SageStream)
  • Opt out of ChexSystems (bank account history)
  • Opt out of NCTUE (telecom and utility records)
  • Use https://www.optoutprescreen.com to stop pre-approved credit offers

These freezes won’t stop everything, but they reduce how much is tied to your identity.

You can’t delete yourself entirely. Not in this system.
